ATI’s online courses include a variety of features and formats, including audio lessons, video reviews, a test question bank, mobile apps, PowerPoint slides, coaching, in-depth reviews and assessments, and weekly study plans based on student performance. ATI offers many different types of study materials that cater to students of all learning styles.

Pros

1. One-on-One Coaching

Virtual-ATI Review’s best feature is their one-on-one coaching and mentoring. All students are assigned personal mentors to interact with them on an individual basis. Get help, tips, study plans, and individual assessment, and recommendations from your own mentor. Each coach is a Nurse Educator with a masters degree and at least 5 years of teaching experience to ensure that you’ll get quality support from an experienced professional. Your Virtual-ATI coach will give you a “Green Light” when you appear to be ready to pass NCLEX, based on your performance in the course.

2. Mobile Apps

ATI gives students access to multiple mobile apps so they can study wherever they go. Apps include pharmacology flashcards and the MobileMentor NCLEX question bank with customized quizzes. Both apps are available for iOS and Android devices.

3. Diagnostics, Assessments, and Reports

Virtual-ATI provides detailed diagnostics and analytical reports to show you how you are doing in the course. Weekly assessments from your coach on your progress as well as information and tips about which areas you’ll need to focus on round out the feedback you receive while studying with ATI. The online study portal displays information on your progress so you can focus your study time on those areas that need it most.

4. Study Calendar

Coaches design a weekly study calendar based on your performance assessments and the week’s study material, so that you know exactly what to study and when. This is ideal for those who are struggling to determine what they should be studying on their own.

5. Virtual Review

If you aren’t sure if you’ve learned enough to pass the NCLEX exam, Virtual-ATI offers a comprehensive exam at the end of the course to measure your performance, test your readiness, and allow you to take a mock exam before you take the real one. The comprehensive exam is a great way to increase your confidence and ensure that you have learned enough to pass the NCLEX RN or PN exam.

6. Wide Range of Study Materials

Virtual-ATI offers many different kinds of study materials, including an online bookshelf, audio PowerPoint lessons, more than 500 practice questions with rationales for correct and incorrect answers, two learning apps with flashcards and questions, and more than 250 online learning activities in addition to printable resources. This gives students the option to study on their computer, tablet, mobile phone, or with printed materials from pretty much anywhere. The combination of  traditional study materials and fun, interactive study methods means you can learn the material in a way that best fits your learning style.

Cons

1. Reactivation Fee

If you go six weeks without contacting your coaches and tutors, your account is moved into inactive status. This is great if you intend to wait a few weeks to go back to study, but if you take off more than 6 weeks, there is a $75 reactivation fee to access your account again.

2. Audio Lessons

Video lectures are the standard for most online prep courses, however ATI uses mostly audio PowerPoint-type lessons and lectures, making them seem somewhat outdated compared to the competition. This may also not be the most effective way for some students to learn.

Conclusion

Virtual-ATI has a larger variety of study materials than most competitors, including a large question bank, one-on-one coaching, responsive student support, and a comprehensive practice exam at the end of the course. Virtual-ATI offers so many resources to study for and pass the exam that some students may feel overwhelmed. Their audio PowerPoint slide presentations are a bit outdated, but the variety of other study materials more than makes up for that. This course is a good fit for self-motivated students and auditory learners looking for a comprehensive review course.
